Awareness of ISOCM Increases Following 2013 Conference
Joensuu, Finland - In the weeks after the conclusion of the 5th International Conference in June 2013 hosted here by the Society, a number of church media outlets featured articles and reports about the conference and the ISOCM.
The Orthodox Church of Poland posted an article about the conference, as did the Serbian Orthodox Church, and the Finnish Orthodox Church featured news about the conference as well.
The Orthodox Church in America also published an article about the 5th ISOCM conference, and the Antiochian Orthodox Archdiocese of North America presented coverage, along with the Orthodox News Service Pravmir, and the Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky Institute of Eastern Christian Studies, Ottawa, Canada.
The Japanese Orthodox Church featured the ISOCM conference in their diocesan magazine as part of an article by Maria Matushima who attended this year's conference. The article, entitled "Variety-- Blessing of God for His family," introduced a multi-lingual, multi-ethnic liturgical experience from four scenes.
"These types of postings are very much appreciated by the ISOCM to help 'get the word out' about the society," said Father Ivan Moody, ISOCM board chairman, "The articles affirm our mission to expand contact and the sharing of information between various Orthodox church musicians and institutions - and these efforts are always constant and continuous. We welcome sharing the news with even more people!"
Father Ivan was recently interviewed about the ISOCM by Orthodox Christian Network, an Orthodox broadcast ministry based in North America.
